The 2009 Kentucky Wood Expo will be returning to the London area for the 27th annual show thanks to many supportive comments and feedback from exhibitors, attendees, and the local community. Set this year for September 18 & 19, the two-day event accenting the forest products industry will be held on Friday and Saturday. The show is proud to announce the return to the improved facility in London, KY at the Optimist Sports Complex on the west side of London. This is a newly built, "first class" facility. All indoor space will be located in one building that is air-conditioned and all spaces will be on a hard surface. Outdoor space will mostly be on sod and all spaces are level.
The Kentucky Wood Expo will attract loggers, sawmill and pallet operators, manufacturers of forest products and related machinery, retailers and wholesalers, and consumers of wood products. The Kentucky Wood Expo committee is working on activities to attract additional industry attendees.
In addition to the over 100 exhibits and demonstrations of wood industry equipment and services, there will be lots of entertainment for each member of the family to enjoy. Activities will include lumberjack competitions, equipment contests, country music, crafts, and a Log A Load for Kids silent auction to benefit Kentucky's Children's Hospital, not to mention food and good times for everyone.
Lumberjack demonstrations will take place in the arena on both days and will feature two of the top names in national timbersports competition. Also taking place will be local lumberjack competition to determine the best lumberjacks in the area. This year's Lumberjack demonstrations and competition will include axe throwing, standing and overhead chop, springboard chop, crosscut sawing and the always popular modified chain saw races. Local logging operators will also get in on the action outside of the arena and compete in the log loading and skidder competitions.
