2016 KFIA Annual Meeting - April 5-7, 2016, Louisville, KY


 We are planning our 51st Annual Meeting of the Kentucky Forest Industries Association, (KFIA), to be held at The Brown Hotel in Louisville, KY on April 5, 6, and 7, 2016.  The theme of the meeting will be “Restoring our Forests and Markets”.  We will have excellent speakers on programs and important issues to restore our forest and markets for the wood industry.  We will have speakers discussing the new concept of tall timber buildings, white oak markets, revival of the American Chestnut and how Kentucky is addressing concerns with a number of tree species that are being threatened by invasive species.  The meeting this year will feature a number of activities including a “Welcome Reception” for early arrivals and a golf outing on Tuesday.  The exhibit area will be open throughout the meeting with a number of activities in the area to allow exhibitors to meet with potential contacts.  On behalf of the Board of Directors, I invite you to participate.

“Restoring our Forests and Markets”

The Kentucky Forest Industries Association (KFIA) will hold its 51st Annual Meeting on April 5 - 7, 2016 at The Brown Hotel in Downtown Louisville, Kentucky.  The association plans to host over 400 company representatives from throughout the region.  There will be a variety of discussions and activities to enjoy during the event.  A number of opportunities will be made available for attendees to gather and discuss current issues, and meet with customers both new and old.  The meeting will get underway with the John Smith Invitational golf outing at the Oxmoor Country Club Golf Course in Louisville, Kentucky.  

The exhibit area will be open throughout the meeting and the Tree Farm Awards Luncheon will recognize outstanding individuals for their achievements in the forest industry community.  

Speakers will include Jeff Stringer, from the University Of Kentucky Department Of Forestry will provide an update on the Forest Health Center and Rex Mann, retired Forest Supervisor for Daniel Boone National Forest will talk about the American Chestnut restoration project as well as a discussion on the White Oak Markets and the Tall Timber Buildings of the future.
